Perseverance Assembly

Class 2 showed off some of their perseverance in assembly on Tuesday. They amazed the rest of the school with their fabulous learning at home projects.

There was some super maths work too from Caitlin and Isla - look at the maths post for their Tudor house. Well done class 2! I'm very proud of you!

Tudor houses

We have been creating 2d and 3d Tudor houses in maths this week. We had to think about the shapes we would need. When we created 2d houses we learned that it is quite tricky to draw a square and that you have to use the lines in your page and remember the properties of a square.

We thought about the 3d shapes we would need, then looked at the nets of these 3d shapes.

Caitlin and Isla showed tremendous perseverance when they finished their Tudor house. They showed it to the whole school in our assembly on perseverance. Photo coming soon!

Samuel Pepys

Yesterday afternoon we travelled back in time to 1666 to ask Samuel Pepys some questions about the Great Fire of London!
He wrote lots of information on the 2nd of September about the fire. 300 houses burnt in that first day! We asked him lots of questions and learned lots of things from him.

Did you know that Samuel Pepys buried his cheese and wine in the garden so that it wouldn't get burnt in the fire or stolen by looters?

Samuel Pepys wore a wig because it was very fashionable then. Did you know that his wife Elizabeth had false teeth made of animal bone!

You can learn more about Samuel Pepys when we become him later this week and write our diaries about the fire.

Fire in the Bakery!

Did you know that the Great Fire of London started in a bakery in 1666?
We did some drama to learn how the fire spread and why it spread so quickly.

We have also started a timeline to show the events in the fire.

Miss BB thinks our charcoal houses are amazing!

Come and have a look at our finished display soon!

Coding with the digital leaders

This afternoon the year six children came to help us with our computing lesson. We used Espresso coding on the computers for this. They really helped us with our learning.
